1. About Peeranha

Peeranha (getpeeranha.com) is a paid peer review platform that connects scientific journals with verified expert reviewers. By registering or using the platform you agree to these Terms.

2. Eligibility

Peeranha is exclusively for academic and research institutions - universities, research institutes, hospitals with research programmes, and scientific journals. Consumer or personal use is not permitted. You must register with an institutional email address. We reserve the right to reject or revoke any account that does not meet these criteria.

3. Journal Accounts

• Journals pay a fee per manuscript submitted for review, based on manuscript type and the number of reviewers requested. Fees are listed on the Pricing page.
• Payment is processed via Stripe. By paying you authorise the charge.
• If no suitable reviewers are found within 5 business days, contact us and we'll issue a full refund - no questions asked. Refunds typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
• Manuscripts remain strictly confidential. They are accessible only to selected reviewers and journal staff.
• You confirm that you have the right to submit the manuscript for external review.

4. Reviewer Accounts

• Reviewers must hold a position at a recognised academic or research institution and provide a valid institutional email address.
• Accounts are manually verified. We may request additional credential confirmation.
• You agree to keep manuscripts and their contents strictly confidential during and after review.
• You agree to submit honest, constructive, and timely reviews.
• Reviewer compensation is due once a complete review is submitted - whether the journal subsequently accepts or declines it. Payment timelines and methods will be communicated separately.
• Peeranha reserves the right to withhold or reclaim payment for reviews found to be fraudulent, plagiarised, or in bad faith.

5. Confidentiality

All manuscripts, author identities, and review contents are confidential. You agree not to disclose, reproduce, or distribute any material you access through the platform. This obligation survives termination of your account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Submit manuscripts you do not have the right to submit.
• Attempt to identify or contact authors during blind review.
• Use the platform to plagiarise, misappropriate, or misuse scientific work.
• Circumvent verification or submit false credentials.

7. Intellectual Property

Journals retain all rights to submitted manuscripts. Reviews become the property of Peeranha and the commissioning journal. Peeranha retains no rights to publish or redistribute manuscripts without explicit permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

Peeranha provides the platform on an "as is" basis. We are not responsible for the quality or accuracy of reviews, nor for editorial decisions made by journals on the basis of those reviews. Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific transaction in question.

9. Payment Terms

Invoices issued by Peeranha to journals are payable within 30 days of the invoice date, in accordance with Ley 3/2004, de 29 de diciembre, por la que se establecen medidas de lucha contra la morosidad en las operaciones comerciales (transposing EU Directive 2011/7/EU on late payment). Late payments accrue interest at the reference rate established by the Banco de España plus eight percentage points, as provided by that law.

Reviewer compensation is paid directly by Peeranha - never by the journal - from the fee already collected at submission. Payment is sent within 5 business days of the journal accepting or declining the submitted review, and never depends on that editorial decision, subject to receipt of valid payment details. Peeranha issues payment confirmations that serve as supporting documentation for tax purposes.

10. Information Society Services

Peeranha operates as an information society service within the meaning of Ley 34/2002, de 11 de julio, de servicios de la sociedad de la información y de comercio electrónico (LSSI-CE). In accordance with Article 10 LSSI, the following information is provided:

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. The parties agree to submit any dispute arising from or related to these Terms to the courts of Barcelona, expressly waiving any other jurisdiction to which they may be entitled, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions where applicable.

For the purposes of Article 38.4 LSSI, Peeranha does not subscribe to any out-of-court dispute resolution code. Disputes may be addressed to the competent courts of Barcelona.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. When we make a material change, registered users must explicitly re-accept the updated Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) before continuing to use the platform - you will be prompted to do so the next time you log in. In accordance with Article 27 LSSI, the current version of these Terms is always available at getpeeranha.com/terms.
